The sculpture is shown leaning against the wall. A torso, cast from the human body, is joined to a
mass of heads made from casts of human faces. The torso — a body without a back — rests on the floor
among earth.
Working through the idea of "half" — incomplete, wanting, unfinished — the piece questions how we are
supposed to be, or how we wish to be. It refers to the way a person is left half-made on the road
toward becoming themselves. The figure's unfinished body, held within a mound of earth, is the sum of
the values society constructs. It expresses the way society draws the individual in and seeks to
rebuild them within the frame of its own rules.
